Whitepaper - As one door closes – Experiences of illegal moneylending during an emerging cost of living crisis

We’re pleased to share an important new white paper that sheds light on a growing but often hidden consequence of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis:

As one door closes – Experiences of illegal moneylending during an emerging cost of living crisis was published by Fair4All Finance, in partnership with We Fight Fraud

This research report explores the lived experiences of people in Great Britain who have borrowed from illegal moneylenders at a time when many households are struggling with rising costs and tightening access to mainstream credit. It draws on in-depth interviews with 287 borrowers and conversations with eight illegal lenders to reveal how exclusion from regulated credit is driving some individuals toward unregulated sources of finance.
